I am not completely sure where to stand here – but tend to agree with Samuel.
#1 I don't know any other software that lets you toggle Find in this way
#2 Ctrl-F now performs three different actions (opening the bar,
focusing it and finally closing it) – while the first two are similar
enough, the last one in a way is the opposite of them
#3 I know that I occasionally press Ctrl-F in hopes it would find the
next occurrence of the search string (i.e. do what Ctrl-G or F3 do
currently) – in that situation it would be unhelpful to see the search
bar closing
...otoh, of course, it's really nice that with the change you can just
close the toolbar, from wherever your focus currently is, by tapping
Ctrl-F twice, instead of Ctrl-F once, and then Esc.
>> Also the Close button should be the leftmost button.
Agree completely.
Also, could you point me at the name of the icon you are using for
closing the toolbar, please? (I'd like it to have the standard "Close"
icon from the Tango theme.)
Astron.
