                OS: All

It would be useful to have a Word Count section in Tools > Options, as a number
of users, primarily authors, like to customize what things are part of the Word
Count. The section could also be used to customize how the word count statusbar
field is formatted. Additionally there are LO extensions that provide the same

Bug reports that would benefit from this section include :-

Bug 74895 - Wrong character count as compared to MSO2007 and other LO versions
Bug 83771 - Set a style to exclude from word count
Bug 59961 - count characters per line in status bar
Bug 79059 - context menu to change display of information in word count status

Some LO extensions :-

Set which paragraph styles are included in the word count

Word count limited to text in paragraphs, tables, footnotes, and endnotes
