BTW Let me put my two pennies :)
If this enhancement will be sometime implemented, I predict appearing of such
kind of bug: document in the list of recent is unavailible (remote disk is off
or doc was removed), but LO still tries to find filetype (via shared-mime-info
e.g.) and freezes... So in this case LO should only look at extension
