Hello,

I opened bug 88835
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88835
about the number of digits in exponent when setting scientific format. By
default there is 3 digits, either when selecting with button or shortcut, or
when selecting General format.

Setting 3 digits in exponent would only make sense for values higher than
10^100 (also known as googol
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Googol ) which are unlikely to occur in "real"
calculation.

I know that this default setting is coming from the old days, and from the
beginning it always make feel strange to me. Do you have any idea why 3
digits would be necessary?
