Just to clarify the mockup :-
Angle: Contain a list of degrees in 45 degree intervals.
Distance: Contains a list of values including 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, .... 20 pt

The mockup will work correctly in calc, impress and draw but wont in writer.
With writer, there isnt an option to modify the transparency of the shadow
found in the image dialog's border tab. Also the border section only has 4
shadow angle values - 45, 135, 225, and 315.
