I agree with Tommaso for option #1, but also, as option #3:

what about a button immediately after the Templates Folder or in the bottom of
the left side bar (on top of the help and extension buttons)?

I'm not a programmer, so I do not know how much time is needed to create it,
with the same command as the File one.
