The average users Benjamin/Eve [1] doesn't know about OpenCL. It's an expert
feature and either on or off, meaning the user will most likely not play with
this option (unlike Adrian [1] in case OpenCL is buggy).

Showing the effective setting of such an expert option in the statusbar takes a
lot of precious space with no benefit. And even a small icon wouldn't be
actionable. My suggestion is to keep the option where it is (Tools > Options >
General) and to show the status in the about dialog. Doing so also helps in
case of bug reports when the system info is copied.

In the end the ESC considered to switch OpenCL off by default. But only if the
issue(s) cannot tracked down. Ultimate goal is to keep it. The decison is
postponed for the next meeting.
