"[ ] Apply user data" comes along with the execution via button labelled "Reset
Properties". So what the user expects is likely that he/she resets metadata
either with or without applying own data. But nothing should happen when the
dialog is closed. 

So I suggest to not change the metadata unless reset properties is pressed.
