--- Comment #7 from Heiko Tietze <tietze.heiko at gmail.com> ---
We talked about this request today in the design/UX meeting. Updating the pivot
table may take a while on slow systems or in case of many data. So the
automatic function is not good, though Excel has it optionally (the request is
in bug 61793).
While 'Refresh All' is simple to introduce it doesn't solve the actual problem
that you a) likely don't want to work on pivot tables that are not up-to-date
and b) have no feedback that a refresh is needed. The recommendation is to show
the status clearly, ideally with a progress and means to stop the processing
that both are not possible yet (new ticket bug 109521).
Setting this ticket to WONTFIX as the suggested solution is suboptimal. You
could do the trick with a macro, starting with advices from
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/46939/how-can-i-make-a-simple-macro-to-update-a-pivot-table-and-then-create-a-click-button/.
Feel free to ask if you need help with that.
