that will be true. In addition if you have this colorfull layout what do you do
with it? is it to review style usage. Most users don't care about styles.

Would it be more helpful to use an mockup language layout. for example you have
something like 

<h1>First chapter</h1>

<p>He heard quit steps behind him. .... <i>particular moment</i>, just after he
pulled off the <b>big time</b> and was making off ...

or any other mockup language like markdown or latex. with syntax highlighting
it gave an good overview and you can change stuff like in an text editor.
