The better tool for those tasks is Draw. There is bug 125275 about the default
resolution at tools > options > draw > grid, bug 125354 about isometric grids,
and bug 78035 to define the grid per document (and many other).

Point is that we have a more or less flexible grid. And if we make this a
customizable number it adds confusion. 

There are also options to switch a grid on/off like using the master, a
template, or layers.

My take > WFM. Other opinions?
