> Why would you want to copy the format into the same box?

Because the same box can contain a lot of content, e.g. multiple bullet points
on a slide; and I've done something to part of this content (e.g. made some
text have a different font, bold, and with wider spacing), which I now want to
do to another part.

> And it's also not a big deal to click into the text box.

Oh, actually, it is a big deal. Not in terms of effort, but psychologically -
it's a big deal because the program is "working against the user": You were
already in the box, you were preparing to do something in the box, you were
expecting the box text to stay available, and then LO is giving you the finger
and un-focusing it - for absolutely no reason and with no justification! It is
quite frustrating.

(Also, sometimes it's difficult to get the focus to the box you want because of
box overlap and z-ordering, and then it's even more of a big deal.)

Well, this would only be relevant if I wanted to apply the same format to many
targets; and the first time I press it I would still experience this issue.
(And it goes without saying that one-off use of the format painter is at least,
and actually more, popular than double-click use of it.)
