They are. Status bar controls are prioritized, rather than the bar collapsing
from right to left, each control's space is reduced first--then some are
removed, and finally space allocated to some is reduced partially hiding. The
Zoom controls are such.

Prioritization differs per module.

Don't see much need to further adjust as 1024px monitors are increasingly rare.
