Whether you unintentionally select an object or not, either way you make users
unhappy with defaulting to selection or not. Both use cases exists, and I don't
have good arguments for one. Maybe consistency with Draw where the selection is
more likely wanted. 

What I could imagine is to consider it an intentional selection only in case of
a range, meaning more than one object/character has been selected. But what if
you want to print a section or a text frame?
