The change from comment 1 makes sure that the sidebar is not only open (i.e.,
its categories are shown on screen), but also expanded (the code to keep it
collapsed in sfx2/source/sidebar/SidebarChildWindow.cxx does not affect Math).
So yes, I guess that we are on the same page here.
