One solution might be to show it like fields. And since DDE values are always
inserted as content of a linked table and regular table formulas like =1+1
don't have a clear feedback either (bug 85754 and bug 147233) we could
introduce a special background (and make it editable via formula bar only).
Another option is to adopt the value highlight concept from Calc and color the
inserted text.
