The behaviour described in comment #16 is  a duplicate of bug 88002. It's
exactly the behaviour of the example given in comment 2 over there.

The behaviour asked of at least in comment #16 is not an enhancement but a
regression. It is the current behaviour but that itself was a change from the
behaviour previously shown prior to v4.3.5. I'll take further comment back over
there.
