There is a _cost_ to adding a root item, to be sure, but that does not mean it
is always detrimental. It's detrimental if the costs outweigh the benefits.

What can you group other than shapes?

1. Not if the previous (aspect of the) UI is disliked, which in our case, I
would argue it is.

2. This is not heavy change, in the sense that everything the users had a good
idea where to expect will still be at the same place.
