The topic was on the agenda of the design meeting.
And in contrast to my comment 2 it is possible to double click fields to get
the edit dialog. So we should do the same for index entries. Also since the
command state, which defines whether it is shown, depends on how you focus the
index entry. So it won't be shown if the cursor is at the end (but the begin
works) nor if a multi-selection of two or all characters is done. I assume this
to be a different bug - and a challenge for implementation the double-click.
