An indicator for only unnumbered list styles makes not much sense to me since
this is just one special situation. But the generic idea is to show an
indicator for the styles requested in bug 38194.

Btw, you remove the number also with backward delete at the beginning of the
numbered paragraph. See also the Styles Inspector what happens.
