If this is by design, it certainly is very confusing. I checked some more user
content and HC display behavior is very inconsistent (colors not always
ignored)

- font colors are retained
- background colors are ignored
- conditional background colors, however are retained
- border colors are replaced by gray
- arrows lose arrowheads
- bars in charts are invisible

see new examples attached when viewed with HC.

I am not sure it is a good idea to adjust anything on user objects.
