It's not only a direct formatting on the current state, and not the next
comments, but also a false feedback as the format dialog shows the previous
setting although the default is used. The comment style reported in bug 103064
is one way of solution and I'm tempted to make this request a duplicate. But
since the comment style would be an enhancement I think fixing the bug as an
alternative path should be kept open. Changing the summary accordingly.
