Comparison 7.4 vs. Master

I disagree with the statement that the indicator covers too much content.
Adjusting the size depending on the zoom factor makes it smaller than today
(the left part, at 50% zoom and scaled back here to ~100%). Plus, the text is
always drawn on top of the indicator. Making it even smaller is possible but
makes the comments harder to spot.
