We discussed the topic in the design meeting.

The numbers are handy for a11y resp. keyboard only access, they indicate some
recency, and mnemonics inside the filename are hard to spot.
As an alternative we could go with alphanumeric characters A..Z, which might
fails for some localizations.

We decided in the end to keep the numbers.
