We discussed the topic in the design meeting.

While it's unclear what causes the issue it is obviously something that bothers
many users. The workaround (yet very familiar interaction) of resetting the
zoom to 100% is not available cross-modules and whether 100% should be the
default is also unclear.

We recommend to add an option to block zoom when the event comes from the
trackpad (maybe limited to macOS). To phrase it positively it could be "[x]
Zoom via trackpad".
