I'm not sure I'm interpreting your question correctly.
As far as I understand, it should be straight forward for LO to detect the
OS/DE color theme, since LO already reacts to this setting by displaying the
user interface as light or dark respectively.
As for the actual styles, I was thinking that users would per default edit the
light style in a document, but could also configure a dark style. Other users
who would open a document with both light and dark styles configured would get
the style that corresponds to their OS/DE.
