I'm closing this as it seems there is no bug to fix.

If I understand correctly the space is shown when it should (eg in Spanish). In
English, it is not well defined if there should or should not be a space before
the % symbol, so the currently implemented mode (no space) is not incorrect.
Thus, nothing to change.
