Hi.
I'll have to try the "paste over the selected image the clipboard contents
replaces it keeping the dimensions". That hasn't been my experience but I'll
try again.
The enhancement was to get function parity with Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.
Windows has this irritant that everything has to be right-click to bring up a
menu. So when you use MS Office on Windows you get used to that.
Say I want to update an image in either Word or Powerpoint. If the image is in
a PDF, for example, you can't just copy and paste the image so I often take a
screenshot. What I'd like to do is replace the existing image with the image
stored in the clipboard. (If I can just click on the image in the LO document
and paste, then that would be easier but then I would assume that the only
reason the "replace" command is in the pop-up menu is for images in files.
For the example above, the process flow using Word or Powerpoint is to take a
screenshot of the table or image in PDF, switch to Word/Powerpoint, right-click
on the existing image in Word/Powerpoint and select "Replace" from the menu and
"from Clipboard" from the second menu.
When you move to LO, the user will try to do the same process but will get
stuck because there is no "from Clipboard". This is where I've been stuck and
frustrated numerous times.
I asked that the pop-up menu with the "Replace" command would have the ability
to select "from Clipboard" or "from File". This would make the workflow
similar and make it easier for adoption of LO in organizations that have been
MS Office shops.
If all it takes to replace an existing image with what is in the clipboard,
then this would solve the issue but it would need to be documented so people
can find it. I've been using LO for ~9 years and have never found this
mentioned. My frustration finally overflowed and I added this enhancement. :-)
Thanks.
