If a selection remained active on an inactive (not selected) sheet tab it would
have to be ignored in all operations if the sheet isn't selected. Note also
that an existing selection stays active on multi-selection of sheet tabs, and
is extended over the then two (or more) sheets, also displaying the
corresponding status bar function results. Independent selections on the then
selected but so far inactive sheets would have to be cleared for that to keep
the functionality. What should the status bar function even display, per active
sheet evaluation of selected cells, or for all selected cells on all sheets, or
for selected cells on selected sheets?

Altogether, not undoable but the change probably would be quite intruding to
adapt current handling of selections.
