Here's a thought, don't know if it is feasible. For UX-advise and any devs that
have comment.
Extend the SCD framework to implement font filtering by Unicode block coverage?
First clear the active font and load a full list of Unicode character blocks
BMP & SMP. Then let users make active selection(s) from the Unicode block
listing. Filter for fonts with selected coverage and display just those in the
font combobox listing?
Use only that filtered list of fonts across the other instances of the font
combobox listing--until changed/cleared via the SCD, and some reset elsewhere
like on the Character... dialog?
Of course, the Unicode block would not be a translatable (Unicode is not), but
it would provide a functional UI for the requested font filtering by
locale/script.
