--- Comment #37 from Heiko Tietze <heiko.tietze at documentfoundation.org> ---
We discussed the topic in the design meeting.

The use case is to understand what fonts cover the glyphs of a language. Eyal
wrote a nice summary at
https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/2024/msg00117.html. It needs
clarification whether the font a) needs to be chosen before typing, in this
case we have no information what about the user's intention and need different
methods while b) applying a font to a selection could analyze the used glyphs
in the background.

We pondered over the idea with the "live preview", which is working in Writer
too. A checkbox "[ ] Fonts covering the selection" in the character dialog
could support the selection of an appropriate font but wont cover use case b).

This filtering could also be done after typing and tag fonts that can be used,
eg showing a checkmark next to the name. Some cornercases like multi-selection
needs to be addressed.
