We discussed the topic in the design meeting.

We may hide all recent documents in the SC or start from templates, and we
could switch via expert or regular option. With the idea of a potential
additional benefit for some users to create a new document from templates by
default we recommend to add the option under Tools > Options > General as
"Default View in Start Center:"  (o) Recent Documents ( ) Templates".
