The issue is still present in LO 24.8.6.2 (X86_64).

Having the same problem.
Using a multi-day slideshow, spread over 10 working days, after closing it @ a
specific slide, Impress should "remember" the last slide, either when editing
or in presentation mode.
The slideshows we use are over 400 slides.
