We discussed the topic in the design meeting.

Calc and Excel basically work in the same way with the difference that we
reposition the thumb (and allow to continue scrolling per thumb). We do have
small step controls on the edge of the scrollbar, might be hidden depending on
OS/DE.

Changing the thumb size makes no sense for the huge canvas as not even precise
positioning becomes impossible (scroll from XFD to XAA, for example). It sounds
better to keep the thumb size constant and the scroll distance at the minimum
like on column A. Consequently that means to scroll from XFD backwards goes to
XEA or the like, and then the scrollbar prepositions likewise at the start.

The recommendation is to not change the current behavior and resolve the ticket
as WF.
