The grey white space is not only caused by the Navigator but also the document
canvas. Look at the small icon on top (this angle icon, which changes the tab
property on click). It depends a lot on the theme, on other OS/DE the document
background does not merge like this with the application background (you may
configure this too).

You can minimize the Navigator by clicking the tiny button in the middle, or
since you run it attached to the left side shrink the size with the vertical
splitter (your cursor changes the appearance on hover).

Putting all together: I see no issue with the Navigator. But feel to comment or
even reopen the ticket. Input is very much welcome.
