Without looking at it, this sounds sort of related to the fix for
CVE-2010-0395 but that was done a long time ago in 3.2.1.

On Mac, is the "system" python used, and if so, that version.

You might get some change out of examining getFuncsByURL in
scripting/source/pyprov/pythonscript.py
