yeah, the Linux Alpha port defines "AXP" not "ALPHA", the "ALPHA" stuff
can go.
FWIW the scheme (for linux anyway) of the gbuild newer-style .mk, e.g.
solenv/gbuild/platform/linux-ARCH.mk, implies a -DARCH of that ARCH
C.
