[REVIEW][3-6] MSVC 2008 build now passes "make check"

with the following commits on master, and a workaround for bug fdo#50584
(which is really a JRE 7 bug), i can get a passing "make check" on a
MSVC2008 build; would be nice to have these on the release branch as well:

i've updated the Windows build page on the wiki to add a few things like
JUnit as well.

for those who want to try this out at home, be warned that apparently
--headless doesn't work in the Windows VCL plug, so you get to see quite
a lot of windows on "make subsequentcheck"...
