Calc does not respect absolute cell references when sorting

LibO 3.5.7, WinXP. When sorting lines containing cells that are referenced to
(absolute reference - with $) either inside or outside the lines being
sorted, the reference remains to the same location rather than follow the
moved cell. For example, cell N55 contains a formula: =$N$37 with value
11.1. Perform a sort on block A3:Z40. The value of cell N55 (outside the
sorted block) will change to the new value at N37. Instead the value should
remain the same, and the absolute reference should change to the new
(sorted) location of the cell that used to be at N37.
