Two approaches:

* reproduce the behavior in 4.0.0 and identify the source where it goes
  wrong, then compare with the same source in 4.0.1 and use git blame to
  see what change set fixed it

* use bibisect to get a range of commits in between which it was fixed
  and then manual bisect
