just a quick update on this:
As I will be leaving for one week of vacation this Saturday, and Robert 
and Alex aren't available either, I will *not* do the final migration 
before - the risk is just too high, when most infra people are out of 
country. :-)

I will get back to you after August 19 when I have returned, so we can 
do the final switch.

I understand you didn't find any major blockers - all we need to do is 
to copy a current dump to the new VM, change the DNS entry, all of which 
should be doable in about an hour of time.
