A focus on tables in Impress is needed

Hi,

I wanted to raise the issue of tables in Impress, in the chance they'll get
some focus (or a rewrite (: ),
as I see more and more bugs in this area. At the beginning I thought that's
mostly RTL bugs, but
the fact they are regular bugs. Indeed the bugs are more obvious in RTL
tables, but the roots are
there and you'll see that most bugs also affect regardless of
directionality.

Examples:
*Bug 60712* <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60712> - On
inserting New Row/column does not inherit the style of cells in table
*Bug 59889* <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59889> - FORMATTING:
Dragging edge in table re-sizes column width of the next column instead of
current column
*Bug 60554* <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60554> - Borders
disappear while merging some cells in RTL tables (impress/draw)
*Bug 59117* <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59117> - Cell
Borders of last(Right most) coumn is missing in RTL Table in impress
*Bug 42387* <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42387> - RTL
EDITING: merge cell destroys table, borders incorrect for new table

Some of them are fixed with the work from the guys at kacst (CCed), but to
my impression this might need a deeper solution.
This can be a good candidate for version 4.1...

Thanks,

Kaplan

p.s.
There might be a more formal process to raise such an issue, any pointers
would be welcomed.
