--- Comment #6 from Jean-Baptiste Faure <jbf.faure at sud-ouest.org> ---
Hi,

I prefer the second solution proposed by Frédéric for the following reasons:
- it's a very old problem and many users are accustomed to use localized names
of greek letters; if we change the names used in French they will be confused.
- it is a more generic solution, valid for all languages

In fact, there is two difficulties here:
1/ the difficulty to type a series of uppercase characters; all users are
concerned here, not only French users. The first solution proposed by Frédéric
seems to me the best compromise.

2/ the difficulty to type an accentuated uppercase character; here only
MS-Windows users for languages with accentuated characters are concerned.
Indeed it is not a problem to type accentuated characters under Linux (at least
in French). Here the second solution seems to me the right one. It solve
another problem which is that many users do not know which accent they must
type for greek letters in French. We already have the same kind of option for
the function names in Calc.

Best regards. JBF
