Unable to build libre office

I am trying to build libre ofiice but while executing make command am
unable to connect to the proxy server.

Can i instead of running make ,download the tarball file and the run:
./configure
make
sudo make install

Will these commands build the office??
Please suggest something as am unable to proceed further.
