Compilation error on Slackware 14.1

You can disable that unit test by unsetting the DISPLAY environment
variable. That works around your problem. Probably it is not worth
spending more time on it (unless you're interested in debugging it
yourself with gdb) if the development version of Slackware has no such
problem.
