Argh, now I notice that part of this discussion was off-list. Sigh.
Forwarding at least my reply to the list now.

Weird. For me, the corresponding lines of output from autogen.sh, when
building on macOS 10.13.3, say:

checking for Google Drive client id and secret... set
checking for Alfresco Cloud client id and secret... set
checking for OneDrive client id and secret... set
checking whether to enable dependency tracking... yes
checking for number of processors to use... explicit make -j option needed
checking whether C++11 use of const_iterator in standard containers is
broken... no
checking whether /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/
XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/clang++ -m64  -stdlib=libc++
-mmacosx-version-min=10.9 -isysroot /Applications/Xcode.app/
Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.13.sdk
has broken static initializer_list support... no

(and the config.log contains a bit more detail:)

configure:39145: checking whether /Applications/Xcode.app/
Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/clang++ -m64
 -stdlib=libc++ -mmacosx-version-min=10.9 -isysroot /Applications/Xcode.app/
Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.13.sdk
has broken static initializer_list support
configure:39189: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/
XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/clang++ -m64  -stdlib=libc++
-mmacosx-version-min=10.9 -isysroot /Applications/Xcode.app/
Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.13.sdk
-o conftest  -std=gnu++14   conftest.cpp  >&5
configure:39189: $? = 0
configure:39189: ./conftest
configure:39189: $? = 0
configure:39206: result: no

No idea. You could try disabling ccache?
