Page break logic

Hello. I'm trying to understand how works page break in LibreOffice to implement it in HTML. I noticed <text:soft-page-break /> in xml, but still have no idea how to implement visual space between pages. I would be very grateful if you can share link or some details about page break logic. Its not clear for me how pages rendered in app with space between them, but in xml paragraph element is not broken into pieces.
