On second thought, copying the Pages UI is nto a good idea. I was looking at some of the screenshots on the web, and it seems too simple, or not really conducive to editing. I am still for the idea that it might provide a good starting point (Like only 10 icons visible initially, with sidebars for just about everything).

Please take this as constructive criticism: This would be (partially) doable by users if one had the ability to customize the toolbars (and the ribbon in particular), as I see alot of sidebars already.

What do you guys think?
