The topic [1] is "Variable units on numerical inouts" starting with bug 72662
"Use Different Measurement Units for Line vs Page Properties (e.g. point vs
inch)" sounds reasonable.
We allow to enter a different unit like "1 in", which is then converted into the
unit defined via the options like "2.54 cm". Many users don't know about this
hidden gem and we need at least a way to make it more transparent.
The proposal was to have a context menu at the spin edit and to keep the value
without conversion. We have to store it per control, and some believe this is
too much micromanaging bug 72662 comment 19.
Some step ahead is how GIMP allows formulas [2], tracked in bug 158685. Could be
a nice icing on the cake.
So the question is if someone wants to mentor this project.

Respected Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am interested in applying for GSoC 2025 with
LibreOffice and would like to work on the "Variable units on numerical input"
project idea. I have been making contributions while exploring the LibreOffice
codebase. Some of my contributions include tdf#158624, tdf#158280 and tdf#153251.
To strengthen my understanding and proposal, I would appreciate any guidance on
relevant parts of the codebase, possible challenges, and the expected approach
for this feature.
I would also like to know what criteria are important for getting selected for
GSoC with LibreOffice. Are there specific expectations regarding contributions,
proposal structure, or prerequisite tasks that would improve my chances?
Would you be open to providing feedback on my initial approach and helping me
refine my proposal? Looking forward to your insights.
Best regards,
Ujjawal
