Is it possible to use fork() in such an environment? If not, then the
poppler-based PDF import won't work, the one that would give you an
ediable Writer model (that later you may save to a Word format).

There is limited PDF "editing" (commenting) possible via pdfium, which
requires no fork() in our setup, but that's probably not what you have
in mind.
